#GivingTuesday is a day when individuals, communities, nonprofits and businesses from around the world can come together and give back in a variety of ways. From helping a neighbor and supporting our frontline and healthcare heroes to donating meals and giving to causes–every act of generosity counts, no matter the size.

Now in existence for over 20 years, AWOFINC continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to the community. We hope that you will be able to take part in one or more of the many exciting events that we are offering this and next year and experience firsthand the pride we take in supporting our causes.

It is our mission to significantly reduce illiteracy, unemployment, youth gang activity, drug and alcohol abuse, violence and homelessness by developing happy purposeful people committed to giving something back to the community. In order to meet our mission and provide services in our community, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses for support. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals just like you, we wouldn't be able to serve those in our community each year.

We ask that you make a commitment to support our annual appeal by making a cash donation. This quarter our goal is $10,000.00, and we hope that you will be able to make a contribution. Your generosity will make a difference in our community by allowing us to continue in our work.

Your contribution will go along way in sponsoring one or more of our Community Engagement Events for the supportive community of A Work of Faith Ministries, Inc. We have hosted Community Conversations on Understanding Institutional Racism, and Reparations Debriefings. Parent Leaders are conducting several service projects and hosting Parent Cafes, partnering with professional consultants for the Seminar Series promoting violence prevention and other ongoing community empowerment efforts. AWOFINC will restore the passion of volunteer community service.

While inspiring guests to support community initiatives, our Core Team will engage our guests with their service projects while articulating the vision for (the Parent Information and Resource Center that provides training to Parent Leaders and Parent Liaisons for community schools, the Violence Prevention Consortium engages the community in violence prevention initiatives and recruits and monitors street engagement teams for violent communities and our Youth Leadership & Development Initiative that includes the Community Youth Council and Youth Advisory Board) our commitment to this community. These projects are presented by AWOFINC, a faith-based, not-for-profit initiative that is designed to meet the needs of families who may not be aware of the available resources that will enable them to attain the supplemental services that are needed to enhance the opportunity of success for themselves.

A priority need for these community initiatives, which provide community meetings and training programs, is funding for curriculum supplies and program staff. In the past, we have relied on volunteers or minimally compensated staff. This has resulted in high turnover, continued difficulty attracting qualified personnel, and limited continuity for the participants whose success depends on positive role models and the relationships they build with their instructors.

Our Violence Prevention Consortium was established in 2012 in answer to a series of public conversations across Chicago about the increasing problem of violence in our community and schools. Originally established as a component of the Governor's Neighborhood Recovery Initiative, the Consortium now serves as a primary point of contact for anyone interested in stemming community and school violence. In just a few years, the Consortium has gained community prominence including a partnership with the Force For Good Initiative with Chicago Police Department from its comprehensive research and innovative program support.

We train parents to conduct parent-to-parent education and community outreach as Parent Leaders and Life Coaches.
Now is a time to rejuvenate, explore, and evaluate your present state as a business. AWOFINC is providing the opportunity for our families to rejuvenate during the long hard year of the academic challenge of school; to explore their own personal strengths and desires coupled with the open playing field of the United States; for them to evaluate their present position as a person through our motivational seminars, interactive workshops and field trips to the educationally sound and intriguing attractions found throughout Chicago; to challenge the ‘who am I’ and ‘what do I like to do’, ‘how can I better myself and the world around me’.
AWOFINC is poised to meet the demands of our community, but we need volunteers and your financial support.
